Or alive, as it may seem to those around here who remember me. It's been years since I had any real activity here, and years since I've posted a journal. Many of those I counted as friends here have gone, although a few still remain, and I'm delighted to observe their growth as artists.

I feel as though my head has been in a fog for a time. The art of my photography has been lost in the shuffle, as I've allowed my inspiration to go flat, and my camera to become a tool of industry rather than an instrument of creation in my hands. It's taken some of my recent assignments to shake me into activity, and remind me why I first fell in love with the lens. It's a frightening thing when we get to work with the things we love, then forget why we love them. I think that happens in marriages. People get together, and the very things they loved about each other become the things they single out to complain about, the magic can get lost, but I believe it can be rediscovered.

I'm older now than I was when I was a regular around here, I have two children, and a business to attend to, so I don't know how much I'll be around, but I think it's important to have something like DeviantArt, someplace to remember the love of the craft, share one's vision, and indulge in the creations of others. So maybe I'll be around a little more, and maybe you'll stop by to visit, and maybe we'll exchange something of value.
